Saturday, 10th May 2008 - ESCL - Blackboys 256-2 dec drew with Mayfield I 217-3

Blackboys and Mayfield I gorged themselves on a feast of runs with neither side able to find enough to penetration with the ball. Mayfield won the toss asked their hosts to bat first on a hard and decent looking strip. Andy Meed and Marten Leeves duly put on 139 for the first wicket before Leeves fell for an entertaining 60. Meed gave one chance on 87 but completed a well deserved century making exactly 100. Meed shared 110 runs for the second wicket with Gary Funnell who made full use of the good batting track and the fast outfield in a knock of 68 not out. Blackboys declared on 256 for 2 after 47 overs.
In reply, the Blackboys bowlers found life just as difficult and a knock of 79 from Tim Robertson threatened put Mayfield on course for a win. However, Robertson fell leg before to Funnell and Mayfield, pegged back by some good bowling from Stuart Jefford, settled for a draw finishing on 217 for 3. Andy Parker making 48 not out at the end.

Sunday, 11th May 2008 - Friendly - St Lukes 167-5 bt Blackboys 163-6 by 5 wkts

St Lukes beat their visitors, Blackboys by 5 wickets. Having lost the toss, Blackboys were asked to bat and posted a score of 163 for 6 from the 39 overs that they received. Colin Albright top-scored with an excellent 81 with fellow opener Gary Funnell lending supoort with 28. Unfortunatly, the middle order failed to significantly contribute and the Blackboys total was a few runs under par.
In reply, St Lukes made a steady start but although Alex Howell picked up a couple of wickets, Steve Ramsden hit a powerful 68 not out to take the home side over the line. Ridpath chipped in with 37 and Savage 31 not out.
